About We Wear Australian

Initially born in 2020 to unite the Australian fashion industry, the initiative had the wonderful ambition to support the industry in its entirety – from designers to manufacturers, all whom were feeling the continuing and increasing impact of Covid-19, with its extended retail closures and lockdowns. Whether these labels design, manufacture or operate onshore, they are all creating jobs and maintaining Australia’s highly regarded reputation within the global fashion market.

In 2020 #WeWearAustralian dressed more than 10,000 disadvantaged Australians over the course of 3 weeks and created a social media movement championing Australian design and talent.

2021 back and helping clothe Australians

This year we want to continue to raise awareness of just how important it is to buy Australian designers, now and always.

This year again, #WeWearAustralian brands want to restore dignity and hope for every Australian, by reuniting with charitable organisation Thread Together to help drive social, environmental and community change while  supporting communities in crisis by rescuing clothes from landfill and redirecting them to the people in need.

By buying Australian brands first you are supporting our fashion industry, and in turn, ensuring we still have a thriving industry for years to come.
